The Edward F. Loring Arena
Loring Arena is located at 165 Fountain Street in Framingham, Massachusetts. The arena is a classic venue, it boasts seating for 1,550 spectators and has a standard sized NHL sheet at 200 x 85ft. The building has an arched roof, in the same manner as an airplane hangar. There are only a few remaining examples of arched timber beamed arenas left in the area and this contributes significantly to its historic aura.
The Arena recently celebrated its 50th Anniversary and is one of the oldest skating barns in the state. It operates as a seasonal facility, and consistently rates as one of the premier ice surfaces in the state. The season runs from just after Labor Day through the middle of April. Arena facilities include a full service skate shop and snack bar.
Loring Arena is owned by the Town of Framingham and is operated by the Division of Parks Recreation and Cultural Affairs. Loring opened in November of 1963 as a seasonally operated facility, and one of the first municipally owned arenas in the area. Loring is funded by a combination of Town appropriations and user fees.
